I am currently on the plane from SLC to Houston TX. The fast ended after only seven days and now I am on my way to the East Coast with mom and the little kids.
I've been thinking about writing a lot lately. Not just this sort of quasi writing I do in my journal but real writing. Writing with a purpose and an audience. Writing that tells a story.
I was talking about this with my Aunt Kathleen and she told me about a YWAM writing school Geneva is probably going to do in January. It's a typical five month school consisting of 3 months of lectures and training and 2 months of practical application. The practical application of this particular school includes putting together a manuscript for a book. I'm definitely going to have to pray about it.
She also bought me Donald Miller's new book "A Million Miles in a Thousand Years". I'm on chapter six and he says something amazing about conflict. He's talking about when we see horrible tragedy on the news we grieve but when we go to the movies we want more of it. He then says, "Somehow we realize that great stories are told in conflict, but we are unable to embrace the potential greatness of the story we are actually in. We think God is unjust rather than a master storyteller."
This is so true! Can I see the potential greatness of the story I am in and learn to embrace the conflict in my life as an integral part of that story? How much better is my store because of the conflict I've been through and the pain I've experienced?
One final quote from Donald Miller's book that I've been pondering the past few days:
"I wonder whether a person could plan a story for his life and live it intentionally."
